The buyback clause that Inter Milan have on Valentin Carboni should Marseille sign him next summer will be time-sensitive.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Nerazzurri would have ten days to make a decision.

Now it is only a matter of time. Carboni will be joining Marseille this summer.

The Nerazzurri have found a complete agreement with the Ligue 1 club on the terms of a deal.

The move will not be a permanent transfer right away. Rather, Carboni will be joining Marseille on an initial paid loan deal.

Then, the French side will have a purchase option to sign Carboni on a permanent basis.

Reports indicate that Marseille will pay Inter a €1 million loan fee this summer. Then, the purchase option will be right around €40 million.

Meanwhile, Inter will have a buyback option. They can sign Carboni right back in the event that Marseille decide to exercise their purchase option.

Inter President Beppe Marotta has confirmed that the Nerazzurri will still have control over Carboni’s future per the terms of the deal with Marseille.

Inter Milan Buyback On Valentin Carboni Loan To Marseille Time-Sensitive

The buyback option is a key part of the deal between Inter and Marseille.

It has always looked clear that, even though Inter do not have a place for Carboni in their squad at the moment, they do not want to fully relinquish control of the Argentine’s future.

Therefore, a buyback option worth around €4 million means that the Nerazzurri have some peace of mind in the event that Marseille sign Carboni permanently next summer.

That option will not last forever, though, reports the Corriere.

The newspaper anticipate that, if Marseille decide to trigger their purchase option on Carboni, the clock will be ticking.

Inter will then have ten days to decide whether or not to sign Carboni back from the French club.
