Aissa Mandi will depart Real Betis at the end of the season, according to manager Manuel Pellegrini.

Clubs will be able sign Mandi on a free transfer come the summer, as his contract expires at the end of the 2020-21 campaign.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the centre-back. Therefore, Pellegrini’s comments regarding Mandi could be good news for Liverpool if they wish to sign him.

“He’s a player whose honesty nobody doubts. He is terminating his contract at the club after five years (but) he is involved to play until the last game,” Pellegrini said, as quoted by El Desmarque.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

We don’t want to see the club sign Mandi. The centre-back has not been performing that well for Real Betis this season.

Mandi is averaging a WhoScored player rating of 6.67 across the 2020-21 campaign. Also, Mandi is 29 years old.

We would rather see the club sign a centre-back that could play for the club for at least a decade.

It has been reported that Mandi will sign for Villarreal in the summer. Therefore, we don’t expect to see Liverpool sign Mandi ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.
