It’s been over three decades since the 1987 Ajax side scored an astonishing 250 goals in their first 82 games under manager Johan Cruyff.
After a convincing 5-2 victory against Fortuna Sittard on Saturday, Eric ten Hag’s 2020/21 squad has matched the record.
The statistic, provided by Opta, means the current selection of players is only the second Dutch team to ever achieve such a feat.
Strong performances in the current season helped pushed the group to the record as they currently sit with a +24 goal differential.
A large portion of this season’s goals came from last weekend’s 13-0 annihilation of VVV-Venlo, which was another record-breaking moment that made headlines across Europe.
Since taking over in 2017, ten Hag has managed the Dutch giants to domestic and European success including a run to the 2018/19 Champions League semi-finals.
Every memorable goal along the way, each with its own story, has added to the tally.
