Former Manchester United star Louis Saha has told Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag to make a move for Bundesliga star Xavi Simons.
Xavi Simons has been on oan for the past two seasons at RB Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain.
The young Dutch star made a big impact on his national side at Euro 2024 with his playing style creating chances and generally being a threat from midfield.
The Dutch midfielder can play in a variety of roles behind the striker with Simons often playing on the right in the Euros.
The Manchester United hierarchy under Ineos focused on defensive reinforcements this summer but it was revealed that the club made a summer enquiry to PSG for Simons in June.
The former PSV Eindhoven star played under Manchester United’s assistant manager Ruud Van Nistelrooy during the Red Devil’s stint as manager in the Eredivisie.
There has been long interest in Simons from Manchester United and it remains to be seen if they revive that interest in next summer after he returns to PSG.
Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha had praised Simons’s development and believes he would be a good fit for the new project under Ineos at Old Trafford.
Speaking to Casino Hawk via the Daily Star, Saha said: “I think Manchester United should target Xavi Simons. I really like him and he’s the sort of player that could have a huge impact at the club.
“He showed up during Euro 2024, and I think he provides a great option in transition in midfield as well as creating chances for his teammates.
“There aren’t many players in that bracket. Dani Olmo at Barcelona is another one. I definitely think Simons has the capacity to be a success if he did end up at United.”
