Here’s what he had to say.

On derby defeat

“It was a difficult day. We will analyse, it was a reality check, we need to learn from it and carry on.

“You will have setbacks. We beat Arsenal, we beat Liverpool, Sunday we had a bad day at the office. City were better, we have to accept that, but we can’t accept our unacceptable performance.”

That’s what you always do [tweak], you take respect of the opponent, but we will stick to our philosophy and principles.

“We can get a lot of confidence from beating Arsenal and Liverpool, but now we get a reality check with Man City. So thank you for the lesson, Pep and City. We have to understand, we have to do things much better.”

On injuries

[Raphaël] Varane, [Harry] Maguire, [Donny] Van de Beek, Wan-Bissaka are not available for tomorrow.

“Back soon? “Yes in case of Rapha I would hope. Harry will take a little bit longer. The other two I cannot give a prognosis.”

On Ronaldo future

“I can’t see that relation that he is not coming on when we are 4-0 down, 5-1 down 6-1 down.

“It was out of respect, nothing to do with the future or January. I don’t see he is unhappy. He is happy, training well, everyone is.

He’s not happy that he didn’t play Sunday, don’t get me wrong, but the question was about his mood in training, where he’s happy.

“Of course, he wants to play and he’s p***** off when he’s not playing.”

On Casemiro omission

“We will play tomorrow our best team, we have to construct a team because we want a competitive culture.

It had nothing to do with Casemiro, it had all to do with Scott [McTominay]. When he wasn’t in the team at Brentford, we lost.

“Casemiro has an important role, we know his background, the titles he’s won, you see it every day in training.”
