Arsenal have struggled for goals from open play recently, failing to score from open play in their last three Premier League games.

Here are some of the forward players the club could look to target in January and next summer to help address their current issues…

Victor Gyokeres

The Sporting CP striker has carried on his outstanding form from last season and has scored 26 goals in 24 games in all competitions. His combination of pace, power and finishing through the middle of the attack could be the answer Arteta needs.

Victor Osimhen

Currently on loan at Galatasaray with his parent club Napoli keen to move him on, the Nigerian striker could be an interesting option for Arsenal. Similar to Gyokeres with outstanding pace and power, the 25-year-old has proven himself as a reliable scorer for a while now and has netted 10 times in 13 games in all competitions this season.

Rafael Leao

The left-sided forward has been criticised for his lack of consistency and inability to impact games across the whole 90 minutes, but is capable of the electric moments Arteta spoke about his side lacking after the goalless draw with Everton. He is outstanding running with the ball at his feet and could be an alternative to Gabriel Martinelli.

Alexander Isak

It would take a hefty transfer fee to prize Isak away from Newcastle but he would be worth it. The Swedish striker has scored 21 goals in 30 Premier League games last season and has netted seven in 14 this campaign. The only concern is injuries, with the forward having consistently missed games at Newcastle.

Omar Marmoush

The Eintracht Frankfurt striker is enjoying a phenomenal campaign having scored 13 Bundesliga goals in 14 games so far this season. The 25-year-old Egyptian is bound to have plenty of interest from Europe’s biggest clubs if he carries on playing the way he is.

Jonathan David

The top scorer in Ligue 1 this season, David has long been linked with a move away from Lille. He is out of contract at the end of this season which potentially makes him a more attractive option for interested clubs.

Benjamin Sesko

Heavily linked to Arsenal in the past, Sesko opted to stay put at RB Leipzig and sign a new contract with the club last summer. At 6’5 and with incredible acceleration, Sesko is a frightening prospect if he continues to improve his finishing and at just 21 he still has plenty of development ahead of him.

Dusan Vlahovic

Injuries have plagued Vlahovic but he has managed to stay fit for the majority of the campaign so far and is showing what he can do, scoring 11 goals in 19 games in all competitions in an average Juventus team. He might want to move somewhere where he can challenge for honours.

Ademola Lookman

It is perhaps surprising that the Atalanta winger has not attracted more transfer rumours given how good he has been for the club over the past couple of years. After scoring a hat-trick in the Europa League final last season, he has taken his game to even greater heights in this campaign, scoring eight goals in 13 league games.

Victor Boniface

Osimhen’s Nigerian team-mate. Boniface is another who has been impacted by injury and fitness issues but his ability is clear, scoring eight in 15 in all competitions this season.
