Manchester United returned to winning ways over the weekend, as they struck late goals to win 4-1 against Newcastle United. The Red Devils will play their first game of this season’s Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain at Parc des Princes on Tuesday.

The last time these two sides met in the competition, Manchester United got a late winner in 2019 to progress to the quarter-finals of the competitions on the away goals rule. The Premier League side will be buoyed by the fact that several PSG players will be unavailable due to injuries and testing positive for Coronavirus.

Manchester United Team News

Manchester United have numerous injury issues going into this game. Captain Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly, Jesse Lingard, Mason Greenwood, and Edinson Cavani have all not travelled to Paris for the match. Anthony Martial will be available after being ineligible to play over the weekend due to suspension. Axel Tuanzebe could return for Manchester United after a long injury lay-off

Let’s take a look at the possible Manchester United lineup for the game against Paris Saint-Germain.

Predicted Manchester United Lineup vs PSG

Goalkeeper

David de Gea should start between the sticks for Manchester United against PSG. The custodian had a good game against Newcastle, and will hope he isn’t called into action too often against PSG.

Defence

It will be interesting to see if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plays three central defenders in the team to combat PSG’s star attackers, also because of the numerous injury issues that they have. If he plays a three-man backline, we could see Victor Lindelof play alongside Axel Tuanzebe at the back, with left-back Luke Shaw playing as the left-sided centre-back.

Alex Telles could get his first start for United at left-back, his first for Manchester United, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka will continue at right-back.

Midfield

Nemanja Matic was a late substitute in United’s win against Newcastle United and we could see him start this game. Paul Pogba should start a little ahead of Matic in the Manchester United lineup, with summer signing Donny van de Beek an option as well. The likes of Fred and Scott McTominay are other options for Solskjaer in midfield.

Bruno Fernandes should play in the No. 10 role for Manchester United on Tuesday. Juan Mata is an option for the Red Devils as well.

Attack

Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford should start upfront in the Manchester United lineup. The two are deadly in the counter-attacking situations, and will look to test the PSG defence.
