Ligue 1 side Lyon have now joined AC Milan in the race for Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, according to a report.

A number of different sources have reported that Bakayoko wants to return to the Rossoneri as he has remained very attached to the club since his loan spell in 2018-19.

The links have grown stronger over the last few weeks given that Milan are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements given the departure of Lucas Biglia and the doubts over the future of Torino-linked Rade Krunic.

Sky Italia (via MilanNews) reported earlier today that there are also other Premier League teams who are circling for the midfielder, who the journalist has previously claimed could cost €3m loan plus a €35m option to buy.

According to what is being reported by Telefoot journalist Saber Desfarges, Milan are active for Bakayoko and technical director Paolo Maldini is leading the charge, but Lyon have joined in.

The French side have established contacts with Chelsea and the player’s entourage, he adds, while the player is currently in London and is due to resume training on August 23.
