Nathan Bitumazala has spoken of his “pride” after the 18-year-old made his senior debut for Paris Saint-Germain in the 4-0 win over Clermont on Saturday.
The defensive midfielder, who can also fill in at right-back, came up through the ranks at the Ligue 1 after first joining the club at age 13.
Bitumazala replaced Presnel Kimpembe with 10 minutes to go to complete his rise to the top level with Les Parisiens.
“It’s a huge joy, an immense pride, in addition to the Parc des Princes and in front of our supporters, I can only be happy,” the teenager told PSG media.
The Fontainebleau native felt his opportunity was earned over the past few weeks.
“The pre-season? It is true that we did a long preparation, hard training, and that rewards the efforts that I have provided.”
Bitumazala will now have to wait and see if manager Mauricio Pochettino will reward him further with some action in Wednesday’s Champions League group clash at Club Brugge.
