‘Tebas’ own mistake’… CSD president claims La Liga’s own error has allowed Barcelona to register Dani Olmo

FC Barcelona have had to deal with various kinds of issues this season even away from the pitch. Just when things seem to be going smoothly for them, problems begin to arise. Fortunately, that does not seem to have harmed Barcelona on the pitch at least.
However, there is one particular matter which could certainly have a negative impact on the team’s ability to perform on the field. That particular concern is the one related to the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, a matter which has created a massive dispute between La Liga and Barcelona.
In fact, the club had to get the National Sports Council, or Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD) in Spanish, involved to sort out the issue. As of right now, their latest ruling favors Barcelona and has allowed the Catalan club to temporarily register both players until the end of the season.
La Liga, on the other hand, stands against this decision and does not agree with it. However, CSD president José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes recently spoke about the matter and claimed that La Liga was at fault, as quoted by Barça Times:
“La Liga itself acknowledged that Barça was compliant by January 3 — not on December 31, but definitely by January 3. Now they’re trying to dispute that again.”
He further went on to say that it was possibly a mistake made by La Liga president Javier Tebas himself that has now allowed Barcelona to temporarily register their players and it is an error made by the league that has allowed this to happen:
“Well, if you look it a way, Olmo is able to play because of Tebas’ own mistake. It was a procedural error by La Liga and the RFEF. If they hadn’t made the error, Olmo couldn’t have played. We (CSD) are not authorized to overrule La Liga and RFEF on FFP matters. In any case, La Liga had stated that Barça was compliant as of January 3rd.”
This makes it clear enough that the CSD and FC Barcelona appear to be on the same page. As long as that is the case, both Olmo and Victor should have comfort in knowing that they will not be facing too many issues in terms of their registrations and that they can continue to focus on their game.
However, it is also clear enough that Joan Laporta does not intend to be quiet on this matter. He has already stated that he stands against the statement issued by La Liga on this matter and that he intends to make a stand against it.
As for Hansi Flick and his squad in general, the goal is to focus on the pitch and nothing more. The team is now hoping to contend for every single major title, and they are in a good enough spot to potentially make that dream of theirs a reality.
