Ralf Rangnick gives his insights as Manchester United prepare to face Young Boys

According to the club’s official site, Manchester United look set to ring in the changes against BSC Young Boys in their UEFA Champions League group stage final at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

The Red Devils have already qualified for the round of 16 and have little to play for on the night. However, having suffered a shock defeat to the Swiss side in their first game, Man United will be keen to set the record straight.

The game also sees Ralf Rangnick make his first foray into continental football at the helm at Old Trafford. He led the club to a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace last weekend.

Rangnick admitted that common sense dictates that he gives some of his best players a much-needed breather. It is all the more important when one considers the busy schedule in front of us in the coming weeks.

“It definitely makes sense that we rest a few players due to the crowded fixture list over the next few weeks and months.”

New manager, new fortunes?

Two players who look set to benefit from the approach are Dean Henderson and Donny van de Beek. Both players have struggled for minutes this season and will cherish the opportunity to take to the field again. Whether they make use of the opportunity remains to be seen.

The likes of Edinson Cavani, Paul Pogba and Raphael Varane are still yet to recover and look set to miss the game. They will be joined on the sidelines by Anthony Martial who could be out of action for around two weeks.

The likes of Anthony Elanga also looks to be in contention for the game. Who eventually makes the cut remains to be seen.

Young Boys too have concerns of their own and will be without David von Ballmoos, Christian Fassnacht, Felix Mambibi, Jean-Pierre Nsame and Cedric Zesiger on the night. Wilfried Kanga remains a doubt and it has to be seen if he will feature on the night.
