Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel provides injury updates on players ahead of Brighton clash

According to Football.london, speaking ahead of his side’s midweek clash away to Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has provided the latest team news and injury updates on his players.

The Blues will be aiming to bounce back from their previous league fixture last weekend which saw them lose narrowly to Manchester City in a game that ended 1-0. While Brighton might not be at the same level as Man City, Graham Potter’s side are enjoying a good season and will provide us with a challenge.

The German coach praised the Seagulls, highlighting their ability to play one-on-one and keep a continuous high press across the pitch. Tuchel admitted that his side will need to perform at the highest level to beat the Seagulls.

“I agree with you that they are a tough side to beat and play against. It is the first time for me to play against them in their stadium and they are not shy to play one-on-one, do high pressing across the whole pitch, and maybe that already answers part of the question. If we want to win, we need to be at the top level.”

Thomas Tuchel provided general team news and injury updates on his players during his pre-match press conference on Monday afternoon.

Tuchel presented some good news ahead of the trip to the Amex stadium, confirming that he had no new injuries to contend with in the Chelsea squad. The Blues’ long-term injury casualties Ben Chilwell, Reece James, and Trevoh Chalobah continue to remain sidelined.

Despite recalling wing-back Kenedy from his loan spell this month due to Chilwell being ruled out for the season, Tuchel refused to confirm whether he intended to play the Brazilian regularly through the rest of the campaign. However, the player was seen training on Monday, indicating that he may be in for a possible appearance against Brighton, but only from the bench due to the lack of game time he has racked up in Brazil on loan.

Senior defender Andreas Christensen is also likely to miss the trip to Brighton after he tested positive for Covid before the Manchester City clash. It will be hard for the Dane to make a comeback into Tuchel’s plans at the moment, given young Malang Sarr‘s performances in the heart of defence over the past couple of weeks.

Tuchel presented some good news ahead of the trip to the Amex stadium, confirming that he had no new injuries in the squad.

Tuchel will be thankful for the fact that Chelsea have no new injury concerns despite playing just three days after the Man City clash. . Our defensive lineup has taken a hit with injuries and Covid concerns, but in what seems like a long time, we do not have any new concerns to our players to fret about.

Marcos Alonso, who is now the only senior left-back in the squad.

Thiago Silva is back in contention after recovering from Covid before the City game, providing steel to our depleted backline. Meanwhile, Sarr seems to have stepped up when we needed him most, putting in an impressive shift at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday despite the loss.

Despite these measures, these are only temporary stop-gaps, and we should hope that the club looks to sign some defensive cover this month with the January transfer window underway.
