Team News: Three Tottenham stars set to miss Europa League clash vs Ludogorets

According to Football.london, Tottenham will be without two defensive starters for the Europa League clash against Ludogorets.

Fans will not be surprised to know that the absent duo includes Toby Alderweireld and Matt Doherty. The former injured his groin against Manchester City as the club won 2-0 at the weekend.

It was the lone sore spot in an otherwise excellent night for Jose Mourinho’s side. The boss gave a rather damning verdict after the match and the defender is expected to be out for the foreseeable future.

Mourinho revealed that Alderweireld had a muscular injury in the adductor and that we will have to see how bad it is. Hopefully, it is not as serious as feared and the defender will be back sooner rather than later.

Erik Lamela is another player who will miss the match due to injury. The Argentine star has been on the sidelines prior to the international break. While he continues to recover, the midweek clash has come a tad too quick.

One player who is not absent but will be missing is Doherty. The right-back continues to be in isolation and will definitely miss the clash against Ludogorets. It is also possible that he will miss out on the huge clash next weekend against Chelsea.

The returnees!

Meanwhile, Gareth Bale could return to the line-up. Mourinho chose to bring on Steven Bergwijn over him against City. Having gotten himself a proper rest, the winger could be back in contention midweek.

The same could be the case for Giovani Lo Celso, who once again impressed off the bench. Mourinho tends to rotate his sides for the Europa League and this could see the Argentine return to the starting XI.

With the match against Chelsea to come, it remains to be seen who Mourinho chooses to play.

Another player who will not feature this matchday is Japhet Tanganga. He remains some way away from being available once again. A win should more or less see us keep hold of the top spot in our group.
