Ralf Rangnick provides injury update on Manchester United trio of Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba

According to The Independent, Manchester United manager, Ralf Rangnick has provided a positive injury update on the key Manchester United trio of Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba.

The Red Devils take on Brentford in a must-win game as they look to mount a fight for a top-four finish. Man United have taken just one point from their last two league games and find themselves five points off the fourth spot.

Rangnick’s men have two games in hand over West Ham United and could claw their way back into contention by defeating Brentford. The German has been handed a boost as two of his stars are set to be available for the game.

The Man United boss confirmed that both Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford are available for the game. Both players missed the 2-2- draw at Aston Villa and their absence was noticeable. Whether they will start against Brentford or come off the bench remains to be seen.

“Cristiano and Marcus were training yesterday… right now, I think they would both be available.”

Ronaldo has been the club’s standout player this season and his return will be a massive boost. Rashford however has failed to replicate his best and will need to step up his game in the second half of the season. Man United cannot afford to drop any more cheap points and the club’s top players need to step up and make themselves count.

Rangnick also had positive news on Paul Pogba and revealed that the Frenchman is closing in on a return. The midfielder returned to full training on Monday and is in contention to return after the international break in early February.

Pogba’s return will add more dynamism to what has been a rather drab midfield and offer us another key weapon to use in the business end of the season.

Man United have looked far from convincing in recent weeks and the optimism that surrounded Rangnick’s arrival has somewhat dissipated. With their best players now back available, the Red Devils can have no more excuses and should make sure that they do justice to the ability in their ranks.

Brentford are coming off a 3-0 loss against Liverpool and there is no reason why we cannot put them to the sword as well. The Red Devils cannot afford to cede any more ground in the race for the top four.
