Real Madrid will hope to keep their top place in the Spanish Primera Liga table when they host Villarreal on Saturday night. Carlo Ancelotti’s men brushed aside Mallorca on Wednesday night, beating winning the game 6-1.

The Spanish giants have a two-point lead over city rivals Atletico Madrid on the La Liga table. Real Madrid is undefeated this season in all competitions and will be expected to keep that run going on Saturday.

Los Blancos won the last meeting between the two sides, thanks to two very late goals from Karim Benzema and Luka Modric.

Real Madrid Team News

Real Madrid will be without the services of several of their first-team players. Full-backs Ferland Mendy, Marcelo and Dani Carvajal will not be available for Saturday’s game, while Toni Kroos, Dani Ceballos and Gareth Bale will also miss the game.

Let’s take a look at the possible Real Madrid team for the game against Villarreal.

Predicted Real Madrid Lineup vs Villarreal

Goalkeeper

Thibaut Courtois has started all six league games for Real Madrid this season and should continue between the sticks for the game against Villarreal.

Defence

The absence of three full-backs means that Ancelotti will have to chop and change once again at the back.

Nacho, David Alaba and Eder Militao have been key players at the back for Real Madrid this season and they should start once again. Alaba and Militao could play as the two central defenders, while Nacho could continue at right-back.

Youngster Miguel Gutierrez has been impressive in the matches that he has played so far and he should start at left-back. Jesus Vallejo will be an option for the centre-back position from the bench, while Lucas Vazquez could provide cover for the right-back position.

Midfield

Casemiro and Luka Modric were unused substitutes in the comfortable win against Mallorca and they should come into the Real Madrid lineup in place of Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde.

Marco Asensio played in an attacking midfield role against Mallorca and scored his first Real Madrid hat-trick. He should keep his place in the Real Madrid lineup after that impressive performance. He will likely play much wider against Villarreal, if Ancelotti plays a two-man attack.

Isco, who also scored in the last league game, will be an option off the bench.

Attack

Karim Benzema should lead the line for Madrid this weekend and he could be joined in attack by Eden Hazard. Hazard could replace Rodrgo in the Real Madrid lineup, and with Asensio in the starting lineup, the Belgian can play further forward. Vinicius should play off the left.
