Manchester United duo Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof came off injured against Istanbul Basaksehir

According to the club’s official site, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has expressed doubts over the availability of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof this weekend.

The impressive win against Istanbul Basaksehir yesterday took us to within touching distance of making the Champions League last 16. However, it appears to have come at a cost.

With Luke Shaw already out, Lindelof and Wan-Bissaka’s absence would mean we will be missing three of the four players at the back we began the season with.

“Hopefully they’ll be ready for the weekend but we’re not sure.”

Lindelof was taken off at half-time, with Axel Tuanzebe replacing him. The Swede has been suffering from back issues of late.

Wan-Bissaka, meanwhile, lasted until the 58th minute. He then made way for Brandon Williams, as a precautionary measure. It was confirmed by Solskjaer that the right-back was facing an ankle issue.

“It’s back problems for Victor and he had an ankle problem, Aaron, so there was no point taking any more chances and risking more swelling to it.”

Diogo Dalot was sent out on loan while Eric Bailly is perpetually injured. The absence of two more players will leave us thin for the weekend’s clash against Southampton.

The Saints have been in good form and are currently ahead of us in the table. Taking the field without our preferred backline could make the clash more of a challenge.

Solskjaer is set to give further updates on the matter on Friday.

The current schedule has placed an enormous amount of pressure on the players. Hopefully, the duo will be back soon as we look to climb back up the table.
