“I think it’s a massive signing for us, as you say, a big name. We had Joe last season and for the last few seasons, who was a brilliant servant for us and a great guy around the place, so hopefully that’s what we’ve got again. That’s three great goalkeepers, Vil (new signing Viljami Sinisalo), Bainy and now Kasper so I am sure they’ll all be challenging for the number one spot,”  Greg Taylor told Celtic TV earlier today.

And Liam Scales told Celtic TV at the supporters meet and greet event in Washington DC: “If you could go and get a like-for-like for Joe, he’s the one. You’re losing out on an international and Premier League winner and then getting another one in. So look, we’re really looking forward to greeting him and bringing him in. Playing with him is going to be great, it’s going to be good.”

Anthony Ralston, speaking at the same event, added: “”He’ll be a great addition to the team. Everybody loved Joe and he did so much for club, inside the dressing room and also outside on the pitch. To have Kasper in now, he’ll be a great addition to the squad and we wish him all the best.”

“A dream come true to sign for a club with such a rich legacy as @celticfc. Excited to be part of this historic club and follow in the footsteps of giants. A new journey starts, can’t wait to get to work.”

Kasper Schmeichel had this to say to the official Celticwebsite: “I am absolutely delighted to join Celtic and can’t wait to get started. Celtic is one of the world’s proper football clubs, a massive name and a place of real passion and success. Celtic is what football is all about. I know Brendan very well, too. He is a top manager and someone I can’t wait to work with again.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting up with the boys in America and start our work and then, of course, meet our fans who bring so much to Celtic. I will be doing all I can to keep Celtic on top and bring these brilliant supporters more and more success.”
