Atlanta United manager Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino’s future has been up in the air for several months.
It appears, however, that Martino has finally found his latest landing spot.
According to David Medrano of Azteca Deportes, Martino will leave Major League Soccer and become the manager of the Mexican national team on 8 December, the same day as the MLS Cup final.
Martino has been linked to several international managerial posts, including Colombia, the United States, and even a return to Argentina.
Last month, Martino exclaimed that he would decide his future in “15 or 20 days.”
After his self-imposed deadline came and went, the former Argentina boss admitted that he was in constant discussions with Atlanta United over his future.
“It would be a deadline to respect if there hadn’t been any kind of talks, but we’ve been in continuous talks up until this point,” Martino said on 28 September.
“Because of that, I don’t think we have to make any kind of decision because of the way we’ve been talking about this situation.”
