The future of Igli Tare will soon become a hot topic at Lazio as his contract enters it’s final year.

The 49-year-old Albanian has been the club’s sporting director since 2008 and has seen many successes and failures during his time in the role, picking up stars like Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Luis Alberto for cheap but also signing flops like Denis Vavro and Vedat Muriqi for over €30 million total.

As highlighted by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Tare is now at a crossroads at Lazio with less than a year left on his current contract. He recently lost his roles working with the Primavera and Lazio Women squads and he considered leaving the club in July.

President Claudio Lotito has given the Albanian director the freedom to look around and explore his future but Eintracht Frankfurt and Milan are no longer interested, making the Albanian football federation the next likely destination.

Tare now needs to decide if he’s happy being just the sporting director in Rome or if he’d like to close the chapter and try out a new adventure elsewhere. A renewal with Lazio is possible but it’s too early to say whether he’d put pen to paper or not, or if one would even be offered at all.
