El Tapatío has suffered its first defeat of the Apertura 2023 against Venados de Mérida, which defeated the team from Jalisco 2-1 in the match corresponding to Matchday 7.
It was definitely not the best night for the Rebaño's affiliate, which, despite trying everything possible and coming within a whisker of equalizing at the end of the game, was unable to bring back points from the home of the Yucatecans. With this defeat, El Tapatío is now ninth place in the overall standings with 8 points.
The goals
- Los Venados scored their goals at the start of the second half, as William Guzmán opened the scoring at 47' and five minutes later, Luciano Nequecaur scored the winner for the locals.
- The only goal for the Red and White came in the final stretch of the match, as at 89' Saúl Zamora took advantage of a loose ball in the area and with a right-footed shot beat Alcaráz.
