Many Chelsea fans believe that Tammy Abraham would be their best striker if he were recalled in January.

Abraham went on loan to Aston Villa shortly after Chelsea fans got a taste of their Academy graduate in blue during the Community Shield this summer, where he made a 21-minute cameo.

At just 21 years old, the striker has shown that he is probably too good for the Championship, scoring 16 goals and adding an assist through 20 Championship appearances this season.

Before a promising Premier League loan spell with Swansea City last season, where he scored five times and added a pair of assists, Abraham scored 23 goals and adding four assists on loan at Bristol City as a teenager.

After Abraham netted a brace against QPR on New Year’s Day, Villa boss Dean Smith insists that the young striker is very happy at Villa Park.

“Tammy has shown no inclination to go back to Chelsea,” Smith said. “In the conversations I’ve had with him, he is enjoying himself at Villa and is developing as a player.

“He is very happy and you can see the connection he has with the supporters, the players and staff. We are very happy with the way Tammy is developing as a player and as a person.

“Chelsea seem very happy, as he is developing as a player and scoring goals in the Championship. For all three parties it is a win-win.

“So I would be amazed if anything happened to prevent him playing for Villa.

“But it is not in my control. If Chelsea decide to recall him, it is up to them.”
