Talleres had the result of the night in the 2019 Copa Libertadores second qualifying round as they shocked Brazilian powerhouse São Paulo 2-0 in the first leg on Wednesday.

A golazo from Juan Ramirez and a late Tomás Pochettino strike was enough to give the Argentines a huge lead ahead of the second leg, which will take place in Brazil on 13 February.

While both sides had a couple of half-chances in the opening stanza, neither team appeared to take an aggressive approach to the match and they went into the dressing room scoreless after 45 minutes.

In the 58th minute, the match would be turned on its head as Ramirez hit a stunning curler into the top corner past Tiago Volpi to give Talleres a stunning lead.

The Brazilians would press for the equaliser but their efforts would be for nothing because in the midst of their desperation, Húdson Rodrigues picked up his second yellow and left São Paulo with 10 men for the final nine minutes.

That proved to be long enough for Talleres to double their advantage through Pochettino as his low shot sent the home crowd into ecstasy.
