Ally McCoist has revealed whether he thinks Cole Palmer is more important to Chelsea than Erling Haaland is to Manchester City.

The pair are two of the best players in the Premier League right now, and Palmer’s four goals against Everton on Monday night means they are tired at the top of the scoring charts with 20 goals each.

Palmer has been nothing short of sensational following his summer move to Stamford Bridge from City and has scored 23 goals in all competitions and provided 13 assists.

His form has put him amongst the favourites to win the Young Player of the Year award, but if his form continues there’s no reason why he couldn’t be in with a chance of winning the main award.

Palmer and Haaland are both key players for their respective clubs, and McCoist has been discussing who he feels is more important to their team.

Speaking on talkSPORT he said:

“I actually think Palmer is more important to Chelsea than Haaland is to City because the big fella is more than capable of popping up tonight with the winner, but Chelsea would not handle the loss of Palmer as easily as City would handle the loss of Haaland.

“City can adapt and have other options, like Haaland, but on current form Palmer is more vital to Chelsea than Haaland is to City.”

The pair will face off again this weekend as Chelsea face City in the FA Cup semi final at Wembley.

Palmer scored against his former side earlier in the season in a thrilling 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge, and the Blues will take confidence from the fact they haven’t lost to Pep Guardiola’s side this season.

A win would see the Blues make their second cup final of the season and they will certainly be looking to right the wrongs from their Carabao Cup final defeat to Liverpool.
