One Chelsea journalist has confirmed that the club have been in talks over signing one new striker all of this month, and those talks continue.

The club are looking at signing a host of new players over the next couple of windows, and one of the priorities is a new striker.

Chelsea only really have Nicolas Jackson with nobody to challenge or push him and also, no different striker profile to add a different option to Enzo Maresca’s attack. There is Marc Guiu, but he does not appear to be trusted by Maresca and he also does still look quite raw and needs to really be going out on a loan move this window.

Christopher Nkunku is a 10 and not a 9, and besides, he continues to be linked with a move away, even if that does now look like it has broken down.

Chelsea continue to be linked with Liam Delap of Ipswich Town, and our own writer Simon Phillips has some fresh info out on that situation today on his Substack site.

Chelsea keen on Delap this month

Phillips writes:

‘And back to Liam Delap, who is the striker that Chelsea have worked hardest on so far this month to try and bring in now. Our sources say there has been contact all month and it continues – but Ipswich are still keen to hold onto Delap until the summer. It would take a big-ish offer for now (probably north of £50m), but it’s not impossible.

‘My gut feeling is that Chelsea are just making all these enquiries, gathering all the numbers from clubs and agents, and then seeing if anything is viable for this month with any of the names above and other options they have on their striker shortlist.’
