Talks between Roma and Dybala at a standstill

Roma have not made any progress in clearing up the future of Paulo Dybala who is only one year away from the expiry of his contract.

The capital club and the player seem to have taken time to reflect on the situation at hand, with Dybala’s entourage having made some recent inquiries about Roma’s plans for the summer.

As reported by Il Messaggero, soon the release clause present in Dybala’s contract will become active and valid for any club outside of Italy.

Daniele De Rossi, writes the newspaper, wouldn’t want to deprive himself of Dybala because he is – as he has always said – a strong footballer, who shifts the balance of the squad in terms of quality.

Roma, however, must make also financial considerations as the club have begun a major spending review of their roster – Dybala next year is projected to earn around €8 million, a sum which Roma at this time are unlikely to be able to sustain.

The situation is at a standstill, the parties are reflecting before the market opens and all the related scenarios. To date there is no certainty whether the Argentine will remain or go away. But everything is at stake and it is also possible that the player can open the doors of his career to other clubs.
