Takehiro Tomiyasu injury update

Takehiro Tomiyasu was not included in the Arsenal squad for the final game of the season, so what’s the latest on the Arsenal defender?

Takehiro Tomiyasu lasted just 39 minutes against Newcastle before he sat down and had to be taken off.

It was perhaps not surprising that the full-back picked up another muscular injury after so long on the sidelines with calf problems this season.

As Tomiyasu reached his hand to feel his right hamstring, we all knew his season was likely over, given there was only one more match remaining for Arsenal.

Speaking after the game, Mikel Arteta told reporters, “We don’t know, we will have to assess him, but he felt a muscular issue, and we had to replace him unfortunately.”

Tomiyasu missed training this week so it is perhaps not surprising to see him missing the game against Everton.

Most hamstring problems take at least three weeks to recover from however Arsenal tweeted to say that Tomiyasu’s was merely ‘tight’ which tends to take more than a week to recover from.
