Wyness doesn't believe the Whites should be waiting for a bidding war to commence for Crysencio Summerville this summer.

Keith Wyness believes Leeds United should be looking to accept an offer from West Ham United for Crysencio Summerville this summer.

Speaking on Football Insider's Inside Track Podcast, the former CEO believes there may not be a bidding war for the Dutchman in the coming weeks, even though he has attracted a considerable amount of interest during the current window.

This interest in his signature came as no surprise, with the winger proving to be one of Leeds' most important players during the 2023/24 campaign.

He may not have been able to perform to his potential against Southampton in May's play-off final, but the wide player was exceptional for much of the summer and played a big part in the Whites' third-place finish.

Finishing on 90 points, Summerville and his teammates can count themselves unlucky not to have secured a Premier League return at the first time of asking, but some of these first-teamers could make top-tier moves before the summer window ends.

Archie Gray has already made the move to Tottenham Hotspur and Glen Kamara has signed for French top-tier side Stade Rennais - and it wouldn't be a shock to see Summerville follow the pair out of Elland Road in the coming weeks.

The winger has two years left on his contract at Elland Road, potentially making this summer the ideal time to cash in on him, though he would be a big miss if he departed the West Yorkshire side before next month's deadline.

Keith Wyness on Leeds United's Crysencio Summerville situation

Wyness believes Leeds should be looking to consider accepting an offer for the winger from West Ham, who are believed to be in the race for his signature, rather than hold out for a potential bidding war which may not come.

He said: "As I understand it, the numbers we’re talking about is around £25million. Look, he’s young – but he’s worth the chance for West Ham.

"Lopetegui may have some other options in mind that he sees as similar, but I think Summerville is worth a chance. He could really make it. £25million plus some add-ons, that could get the deal done.

"Leeds will be hoping for a bidding war, but it doesn’t look like it’s materialising. There’s no doubt he’s a talent, but I can’t see a big bidding war coming. I think they should take the money from West Ham and move on."

Leeds United should take a tough stance on Crysencio Summerville

The Whites shouldn't risk losing him for free.

With the player having two years left on his contract, selling him this summer could allow Leeds to make a big profit on him.

And if they accept an offer from West Ham, they could potentially get to work on finding a replacement before the window ends, so Wyness' point has to be considered.

However, the Whites should be looking to generate as much for the Dutchman as possible.

And if the Irons are unwilling to part with much more than £20m for the winger, Leeds should open the door for other sides to enter the race and make bids.
