According to Sky Germany, Union Berlin forward Taiwo Awoniyi is set to join newly-promoted Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
It’s reported that Awoniyi and his agent are on their way to England where the transfer will be made official shortly after.
The 24-year-old will be Union’s record transfer fee of €20.5m.
Sky also reported that Forest triggered Awoniyi’s exit clause in order to make the deal happen.
A move to the Premier League has always been on the cards for Awoniyi. Back in February, the Nigerian international admitted in an interview: “The Premier League is my dream. Everyone knows that, including here at the club. If I lived in England, it would be easier for my wife and child. Also my sister and a brother live on the island.”
In 31 Bundesliga appearances this season, Awoniyi scored 15 goals and produced one assist as he helped his side finish 5th.
