Sylvain Ripoll features on Lens’ shortlist to replace Will Still | OneFootball

It has been almost two weeks since Will Still announced his surprise departure from RC Lens. He has since found a new job at EFL Championship side Southampton, however, his former club, Lens, look no closer to naming his successor.

USL Dunkerque’s Luís Castro is a target, however, the Portuguese manager is closer to joining FC Nantes. Lens are not keen on paying the compensation demanded by Dunkerque to release their manager. However, three names are still being considered by Les Sang et Or, including EA Guingamp’s Sylvain Ripoll, according to a report from Foot Mercato.

The former France U21 manager took Guingamp to the promotion play-offs in Ligue 2 last season. As a result, the second division side are looking to extend his contract. Lens’ interest in Ripoll could put a spanner in the works. Former Olympique Lyonnais manager Pierre Sage is a target, as is former Schalke head coach Karel Geraerts.
