Switzerland Goalkeeping Coach On Inter Milan Goalkeeper: “Yann Sommer Perfect For Simone Inzaghi’s System, He Suffered At Bayern Munich” | OneFootball

Switzerland goalkeeping coach Patrick Foletti insists that Yann Sommer is the perfect fit for the tactical system used by Simone Inzaghi at Inter Milan.

The 34-year-old completed a transfer from Bayern Munich in the summer. After three matches with the Nerazzurri, he’s yet to concede a goal in an official match.

For his part, Switzerland coach Foletti is happy for his goalkeeper who found a safe haven at Appiano Gentile.

“I’m very pleased. At Inter, he is the undisputed Number One. This detail should not be underestimated,” said Foletti in an interview with Blick via FcInterNews.

“Yann fits perfectly into Simone Inzaghi’s system and his style of play. And then, with Gianluca Spinelli, he finds himself in the hands of the best goalkeeping coach in the world. With him, Yann can still improve, even at the age of 34.

“At Inter, they work in a very meticulous manner.. Inzaghi doesn’t give his players much free time. His training sessions are very intense.

“After eight years in Germany, Yann is facing a new challenge.”

The Switzerland GK coach dwelled on Sommer’s troubles at Bayern Munich, echoing what head coach Murat Yakin said in a recent interview.

He feels that the 34-year-old was treated fairly during his short stint in Bavaria.

“Football has no memory. Many things were said, but the past doesn’t interest me. What is certain is that his stint at Bayern was an important experience for his growth.

“From this standpoint, I’m happy that he had to experience it. Even if it wasn’t all nice and easy for him.

“He suffered, which is normal. He found himself in difficulty for the first time, at 34 years old, after having always been at the top. But he got through it thanks to his great mental strength.”
