Swindon Town are hoping to complete the signing of defender Finley Munroe on loan from Aston Villa, Hayters.com understands.
Munroe spent last season out on loan at Real Union in Spain, where he impressed, and the League Two club are now keen to bring in the Villa youngster.
The full-back, who is first cousins with Arsenal and England midfielder Declan Rice, had attracted loan interest from clubs in the Championship and League One this summer.
But the Premier League side are keen to ensure the 20-year-old gets regular football to aid his development.
He has previously featured for the Villa first team under boss Unai Emery, making his debut in Villa’s Conference League semi-final in May 2024 and also made his Premier League debut against Crystal Palace later that year.
Real Union, where Munroe spent last season, is part owned by Aston Villa owners V Sports and Emery, who went to watch the side on many occasions and has monitored Munroe’s progress closely.
