Swindon Town are close to completing the signing of Malachi Fagan-Walcott from Tottenham in a permanent deal.

The 20-year-old defender had been highly-rated by Spurs after coming through their youth ranks and even made his debut in a Champions League game against RB Leipzig.

However, he has understandably found it tough to get regular game time, with his minutes recently coming for the U23 side.

So, the prospect of playing competitive football is going to appeal to Fagan-Walcott and it appears he will be on the move, as Football Insider confirmed the Robins are in ‘advanced talks’ with the Premier League side over a move.

They state that there is confidence that the transfer will be sorted by the deadline on Tuesday night in what will be a coup for Swindon as they look to strengthen their squad for the run-in.

If the move does go ahead, it will be the latest deal between the two clubs after the League Two outfit brought in Marcel Lavinier from the north Londoners in the summer.

The verdict

This seems as though it would be a good move for all concerned as Fagan-Walcott is at an age where he needs to be playing regularly and going to League Two could be what he needs for his development.

For Swindon, they would be getting an exciting young player who has the potential to improve and kick-on in the years to come.

So, this is a deal that you would expect to happen and it will help the Robins as they look to return to the third tier this season.
