Barcelona have no shortage of quality in the midfield department, but the club continues to closely keep track of promising midfielders on the ascendancy.
One of Sweden’s most promising talents, Lucas Bergvall has lately garnered a fair amount of attention, with reports that Barcelona among other top teams like Inter Milan and Manchester United are keeping note of his progress.
Now, from an insider in the loop, a source close to Bergvall has come out to confirm talks between his entourage and Barcelona.
“Yes, I can confirm that we have been in contact and talking with Barcelona. But in my world, it’s still not a negotiation. There was some contact with Barcelona last week. But this week we have not spoken to them,” said Bo Andersson, sports director of Djurgardens, via Mundo Deportivo.
Barça aim to formulate a squad that is ready to fight for trophies on all fronts, but also future-proof. And the 17-year-old’s potential arrival would be an investment for years to come.
Despite having a relatively quiet first season due to his tender age, Lucas Bergvall has already established himself as a regular starter for Djurgardens, where he has played 25 league games and scored two goals.
His talents are gradually coming into the spotlight, as he was included in Sweden’s Under-21 squad during the most recent national team breaks. With a contract that runs through December 31, 2025, Lucas Bergvall has the potential to play for Barça, but there is still a long way to go before any conclusions can be drawn.
The €5 million-rated midfielder proceeds to be one of the standout performers in his home country and is reportedly one of the most demanded players born in 2006.
