Sweden edged Italy 6-5 on sudden-death penalties after the teams were deadlocked at 1-1 in the Algarve Cup Final.
Valentina Giacinti gave Italy the lead after 12 minutes, Caroline Seger equalising from the penalty spot in the final twenty.
Sweden converted all their penalties, goalkeeper Hedvig Lindahl scoring their last before Italy’s Annamaria Serturini failed to find the net.
Norway won the third-place play off 2-0 against Portugal, Elisabeth Terland’s first-half goal added to by Celin Bizet Ildhusoy a dozen minutes from the end.
