Sweden beat Australia 2-0 to finish third at the 2023 Women’s World Cup.

Brisbane was the venue as the Matildas looked to end their brilliant World Cup campaign on a high.

Sam Kerr spearheaded the Aussie attack once again but it was Hayley Raso who had the best chance of the opening quarter.

The Real Madrid midfielder found herself alone at the back post after great work by Caitlin Foord, but her effort was palmed around the post by Zecira Musovic.

Sweden had their own opportunity to score though on the half hour mark.

Stina Blackstenius was fouled inside the area and Fridolina Rolfö netted from the penalty spot.

Into the second half and Sweden doubled their advantage on the hour mark as Kosovare Asllani finished brilliantly from the edge of the area.
