The United States and Brazil battled for gold in women’s Olympic football on Saturday and it was a nervy first hour of football.
The USWNT eventually broke the deadlock (which proved to be the winner) when Mallory Swanson delivered the goods on her 100th cap.
After smartly staying onside, she drove into the box and rolled home beyond the Brazil keeper from a tight angle.
She is the ninth USWNT player to score on her 100th cap, and third to do so in a major tournament alongside Abby Wambach and Lindsey Horan.
Brazil showed they wouldn’t go down without a fight but ultimately fell short of a comeback.
