Swansea preparing for Leicester bid for Joel Piroe as Premier League duo make enquiries | OneFootball

Leicester City are expected to make a bid for Swansea City striker Joel Piroe soon, reports Wales Online.

Piroe signed for Swansea back in the summer transfer window of 2021, arriving from PSV Eindhoven in a deal worth up to £2 million. Since then, he has become a key figure at the Welsh club.

The 23-year-old has been the Swans’ top goalscorer in two consecutive seasons, hitting 42 in 91 appearances in all competitions.

Only Middlesbrough’s Chuba Akpom, Coventry City’s Viktor Gyokeres and Luton Town’s Carlton Morris netted more Championship goals last term.

The Dutchman has just a year remaining on his contract, meaning that Swansea will likely cash in on him this summer. The club are preparing for a bid from Leicester in the coming days.

Everton and Nottingham Forest have also tested the water for the striker but are yet to make a serious approach.

An unnamed club in Serie A are also believed to be interested, while Southampton have been linked with a move.

Leicester suffered relegation from the Premier League last season, ending their nine-year stint in the top flight. New manager Enzo Maresca will be hoping to guide them to promotion at the first time of asking.

Any potential move for Piroe could hinge on the futures of their current players. Veteran forward Jamie Vardy recently turned down a move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Khaleej, while Kelechi Iheanacho and Patson Daka remain at the King Power Stadium.

Piroe isn’t the only player on the Foxes’ radar. A deal for England international Conor Coady has reportedly been agreed, while Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Winks and Manchester City’s Zack Steffen have also been linked.

Elsewhere at Leicester, James Maddison completed his transfer to Tottenham yesterday.

He becomes the latest player to depart, following Youri Tielemans, Caglar Soyuncu, Daniel Amartey, Ryan Bertrand, Nampalys Mendy, Tete and Ayoze Perez.
