That is according to an update from Pete O'Rourke of Football Insider on Wednesday night, with the Championship's two Welsh sides looking to add further firepower to their attacking ranks ahead of Monday's 7PM transfer deadline for the summer window.

Wrexham's transfer business has, unsurprisingly, caught the attention of many second-tier onlookers and outsiders from across the globe, with it being reported that Phil Parkinson's side have invested over £23m on new recruits following their achievement of three successive promotions from the National League, and they are not showing any signs of slowing down their potential business in the window's final days,

Swansea have endured a summer of exciting off-field change too, following investment from Snoop Dogg and Luka Modrić, with the permanently appointed Alan Sheehan seeing nine new faces move to South Wales thus far, with the Swans actively in the market for another centre-forward at present.

Supporters at the Swansea.Com Stadium have now seemingly received a boost on that front too, as their club has reportedly edged in front of their national and divisional club rivals in the race for the wantaway striker.

Ibrahim has been on Montreal's books for the past four-and-a-half years, initially moving to the Canadian side in January 2021 as an 18-year-old unknown from Nigerian outfit, 36 Leon FC.

The 22-year-old and four-time Under-23 international has gone on to rack up a total of 104 appearances for his current employers, with his current output return reading 20 goals and five assists.

Ibrahim enjoyed his most fruitful campaign for Montreal last season, scoring six times and posting a further assist in 25 MLS appearances, as well as netting a further goal in the 'Leagues Cup' against San Luis.

The Red Dragons' interest in the striker's services was reported by GIVEMESPORT in late May, just weeks after their promotion from League One, with a report outlining that the side from across the Atlantic value the centre-forward between the regions of $300,000 and $500,000 - which equates to £161,300 and £268,940.

Yet, after Wrexham have since recruited the likes of Kieffer Moore, Ryan Hardie and Josh Windass as forwards with a vast amount of Championship experience, O'Rourke now claims that Swansea are leading the race to sign the exciting striker, who has made just nine MLS appearances so far this season without scoring.

The latest development also states that Ibrahim wants to move to the second-tier after seeing his gametime rapidly diminish under Marco Donadel, and he is available for a 'nominal fee'.

Whilst there is still time for transfer races to take unexpected twists, Swansea supporters should be excited by the ambition showcased to outdo their big-spending rivals in the race for the Nigerian as they look to add further bodies alongside Zan Vipotnik, Liam Cullen and Bobby Wales.

Ibrahim isn't the only centre-forward currently being targeted by Sheehan, however. Alan Nixon has claimed that the Swans are also in a transfer battle with Blackburn Rovers in the race for Sambou Soumano, who is valued at £5m by FC Lorient after notching 14 goals as the French side returned to Ligue 1 last term.

Nixon's update also states that Adam Idah has emerged as a potential target following Celtic's penalty shooutout exit to Kairat in the UEFA Champions League play-off round, having failed to assert himself as a regular starter of late under Brendan Rodgers, with a loan or permanent transfer potentially viable.

The latter duo are clearly more established in European football, with Idah also previously featuring in the Championship for Norwich City too. However, leaving their rivals with a sense of transfer regret should Ibrahim move to South Wales would also be yet another small victory for those associated with Swansea.
