Swansea City will face Brentford in the Championship play-off final next week after overcoming Barnsley on aggregate in Saturday’s semi-final second leg.
Scorers: Grimes 39′; Woodrow 71′
The Swans were already leading 1-0 from the first leg, when Matt Grimes curled a brilliant shot into the top corner from the edge of the box five minutes before half-time.
They were dealt a blow early in the second half however, as Wayne Routledge fell awkwardly and had to be stretchered off with what appeared to be a knee injury.
Barnsley then set up a grandstand finish, with Cauley Woodrow scoring at the end of a lightning fast counter-attack to make it 2-1 on aggregate.
But Steve Cooper’s side held on to book a date with Brentford at Wembley in seven days time.
