Mile Svilar reveals his toughest save of the derby, but both the Roma goalkeeper and scorer Matias Soulé are disappointed with the draw against Lazio. ‘We wanted to win.’
It was a dramatic Derby della Capitale at the packed Stadio Olimpico, as Svilar made several big saves in the first half before he was finally beaten by the Alessio Romagnoli header on a Luca Pellegrini free kick.
However, Soulé came out with an equaliser from nowhere, swinging the left foot to send the loose ball in off the underside of the crossbar from outside the box, as the referee’s watch and goal-line technology allowed the celebrations to begin.
“I think if we look at the whole game, it is a fair result. We wanted to win today, so a point is better than a defeat, but we are not satisfied with this,” Svilar told DAZN.
This is the third Derby della Capitale that Svilar has started and he remains unbeaten for Roma in these clashes. Which of today’s saves was the toughest for the goalkeeper?
“The first save on the header right at the beginning was the toughest, I didn’t see it until right at the end.”

A point apiece does little to boost either side’s hopes of European qualification, because it leaves Lazio in sixth on 56 points and Roma in seventh with 54.
They do manage to close the gap on fifth-placed Bologna on 57 points, while Fiorentina’s 0-0 draw with Parma means the Viola do not take advantage of this stalemate.
“I am happy with the goal, it’s a pity about the result, because we wanted to win. A point is better than nothing, but we are on the right track and have to work much harder,” Soule told DAZN.
It was a goal worthy of Paulo Dybala, who was sitting on the bench with his teammates despite undergoing season-ending surgery last month.
“We are all a team, including the fans, and we really wanted to get the victory today,” smiled the Argentine.
Roma are unbeaten in 16 Serie A games and have turned their campaign around after a disastrous start.
“We’ve got a lot more work to do and you can see where we still have to improve. We need to score more goals to win and climb the table,” concluded Soulé.
