Sven Mislintat has joined Ajax as the club’s new director of football affairs, signing a contract until the end of the 2025/26 season.
The German does not officially begin in his new position until next month, Ajax announced on Tuesday.
Formerly of Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal, Mislintat left Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart back in November.
“Since Edwin (van der Sar) called me in February to ask if I was interested in becoming director of football affairs, I stopped talking to other parties,” Mislintat told ajax.nl.
“I was born and raised in Dortmund and grew up in the shadow of big, traditional clubs.
“Since my youth, I have seen Ajax as one of the most iconic football clubs in the world. It is a great honour to become Ajax’s director of football affairs and I see it as my duty to serve the club in the best possible way.”
Mislintat steps into the role a year after Marc Overmars’ resignation after sending a “series of inappropriate messages to several female colleagues” and the changes in the Ajax halls of power continued last week as technical director Gerry Hamstra agreed to leave the club last week.
