Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson could request to quit the club this summer despite being contracted until 2026.

The 30-year-old was ruled out of Manchester City’s Premier League finale against West Ham and Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup Final defeat to Manchester United at Wembley Stadium due to a fractured eye socket, sustained earlier this month against Tottenham Hotspur.

Ederson was forced off during the second-half of the Blues’ 0-2 win over Spurs in north London following a nasty collision with Cristian Romero, with the potential for the Brazilian to have played his last game for Pep Guardiola’s side.

The goalkeeper, who has been at Manchester City since a £35 million transfer in 2017, is one of seven players to have been linked with a potential summer exit from the Etihad Stadium, despite Ederson having a contract until 2026.

Ederson, who made 43 starts for the Sky Blues this term, has made 332 appearances and won 17 trophies with Manchester City, including six Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.

The shot-stopper has faced competition from Stefan Ortega during the campaign, with the German goalkeeper having made 20 appearances for the Blues, including starts in crunch Premier League and Champions League clashes.

The future of both keepers is uncertain ahead of the transfer window, with contract extension talks between Manchester City and Ortega currently at an impasse, with a series of unresolved issues.

Paul Hirst reports that there is also ‘suspicion’ surrounding Ederson’s future with Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad ‘interested’ in signing the 30-year-old, and concern that the goalkeeper could ‘ask to leave’ ahead of the new season.

The shot-stopper reportedly could still be convinced to remain in east Manchester however, should the Brazil international be offered a fresh contract extension.

Saudi Arabia could make offers to a further three City players this summer, with Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker and Matheus Nunes also subject to Middle Eastern interest.
