If you’re a Real Madrid fan you might want to avert your eyes.
For the rest of you, just enjoy the schadenfreude.
To the uninitiated, Sergio Ramos missed Real Madrid’s Champions League clash with Ajax on Tuesday through suspension.
But the brilliant part was, he missed it because of a deliberate booking picked up in the first leg – meaning he would sit out the second match so as to be eligible for the quarter-final.
That presumptuousness came back to bite the defender on Tuesday though, when Ajax put it one of the greatest performances in their history to beat Los Blancos 4-1 and make it through to the last eight.
Amazing.
But just to top it off, Ramos was at the game, sat in the stands, being recorded by a film crew the entire time for a documentary he’s filming about himself.
The documentary is going to be on Amazon later this year, a documentary that follows Sergio Ramos for the entire season – a season in which Real Madrid have lost the league, been knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Barcelona, been beaten by their bitter rivals twice in LaLiga and now eliminated in the Champions league.
It’s March 6 and we’re confident that 2019 has already peaked.
