To be honest, there wasn’t too many Chelsea players who can hold their hands up and say that they had a fantastic game against Leeds United in The FA Cup 5th Round clash last night.

A few played OK, some scored some good goals, and I personally think Moises Caicedo was very good. But none of the others really did anything to write home about.

I thought Trevoh Chalobah was poor, and he was at fault for Leeds’ second goal for not attacking the cross and marking his man. He very almost did exactly the same thing moments later as well and Leeds should have scored from that too.

So it was very surprising for me to see such high praise from manager Mauricio Pochettino regarding Chalobah’s performance on the night.

In words cited on X, Pochettino said after the game: “So so pleased with [Trevoh Chalobah]. He was very good, one of the best players on the pitch. I’m so happy to recover him; he was full of confidence, and he showed good character and personality. He’s a player we can count on.”

I guess he’s hardly going to come out and criticise his own players though, is he? But seriously, one of the best players on the pitch!? Please!
