Barcelona are heading into the summer transfer window with a bold and clear strategy that no one is truly safe.

In fact, according to SPORT, the club is ready to make tough decisions in order to improve the squad, even if it means selling players once seen as untouchable.

It is no secret that the club’s financial constraints continue to shape its decisions. While new signings are expected, they won’t arrive unless space is created on the wage bill.

That is why Deco and the sporting leadership have made it clear that several big names are on the table if the right offers arrive.

Players on the transfer list

Among those who could be sacrificed are Inaki Pena, Ronald Araujo, Hector Fort, Fermin Lopez, Gavi, Frenkie de Jong (if he refuses to renew), Pablo Torre, Pau Victor, and Ansu Fati.

For some, like Araujo or Gavi, the idea of a departure would have seemed unthinkable just months ago. Yet in the current scenario, sporting value must be weighed against financial benefit, especially with suitors from Saudi Arabia ready to offer sizeable fees and wages.

Barça’s plan is not to throw these players onto the market, but to remain open to negotiations. The club wants to be practical that players who bring in strong offers and are not central to Hansi Flick’s tactical vision could well be moved on.

There is no “for sale” tag on anyone except perhaps Lamine Yamal, who is widely seen as untouchable.

Bracing for a busy summer

This summer could be particularly decisive for Frenkie de Jong. The Dutch midfielder’s contract situation is still unresolved, although everything points to the fact that he will renew.

However, if he does not renew soon, Barça may be forced to consider selling him to avoid losing him on a free.

In the meantime, Barcelona are working hard to resolve key renewals before diving into the market. Once those are handled, the focus will shift to executing “surgical” signings and top-quality additions that align with Flick’s philosophy.
