Surprise as some Rangers player price tags increase… | OneFootball

While there’s been a tonne of doom and gloom around Rangers recently, we at Ibrox Noise, often so positive as you’ll all know (!) wanted to offer something a bit more uplifting, and on that topic at least two Rangers players’ market value have (at least) significantly increased in the past four months.

John Souttar and Jefte, as of the summer, were rated around £2.5M and £700,000 respectively by transfermarket, and as of today Souttar’s value is £3M+ while Jefte is now £1.5M.

Now, we’re not saying this proves Philippe Clement is a great manager, this commentary is by no means a ringing endorsement of him, but it does show that some players at this club are becoming assets.

Jefte’s value is still modest, but for a 20-year-old that brought few expectations with him, he’s done a lot better than feared and it’s seen his market value double.

Souttar is the big story – having signed him worth around £1.5M at the time, Souttar’s value has over doubled and was at £2.5M in the summer – we imagine his displays this season along with his strong stock the past few weeks will push that much higher.

Sure, £3M and £1.5M is nothing to boast about, but in reality Rangers wouldn’t let Souttar go for a penny less than £5M+, and he is becoming a top club asset the more he keeps this form up.

Jefte has defied expectations – he’s not a remarkable left back, but he’s proven the ability to adapt quite well from the low demand of APOEL in Cyprus to the must-win mentality of Rangers. He’s done ok for a £700,000 nobody from Brazil.

Of course, ‘ok’ is hardly a massive fillip and it isn’t really good enough for Rangers in general but it’s where we are at the moment it seems.

We will have more on Souttar in due course, but it’s nice to see Rangers player values going in the right direction for once.
