Sunderland’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie against Manchester United at The Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground is now close to being sold out.

The Wearside club have this evening provided a ticket update which has confirmed that 90% of tickets have now been sold. The two teams seem almost certain to be set to contest their historic tie in front of a crowd of around 2,000 on Sunday.

Sunderland and Manchester United will meet for the very first time in the North East this weekend. As The Lady Black Cats were being demoted to Tier Three in 2018 following a controversial restructure of the leagues, Manchester United were entering the senior women’s footballing pyramid. The Red Devils have quickly established themselves as a major force in the women’s game while Sunderland finally regained their place in the elite game in summer 2021 following a three-year spell in the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division. The Lady Black Cats are one of the most historic clubs in the women’s game and they now have the opportunity to take on one of the newer additions in the form of Manchester United this weekend.

Manchester United will go into this weekend’s tie as Barclays Women’s Super League leaders and the red-hot favourites to qualify for the fifth round of this season’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup, however, Sunderland are in good form themselves, winning three league matches on the spin.

The remaining tickets for this weekend’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie between Sunderland and Manchester United continue to be on-sale. Fans can purchase their tickets by clicking here.
