Sunderland are back at the Stadium of Light for the second time in three days on Tuesday evening as they host Blackpool.
The Championship schedule is set to get very busy over the next six weeks or so with fixtures packed in ahead of the winter World Cup break so teams are going to have to get used to a quick turnaround.
The arrival of the Seasiders gives Tony Mowbray’s side a chance to get back to winning ways after draws against Preston North End and Watford.
Blackpool are a team in a poor vein of form right now – having lost four of their last five games and three on the bounce – and Mowbray will be keen for his side to capitalise as he looks to build some momentum and make the most of an action-packed October schedule.
Ross Stewart may not return to match action until after the winter break while Ellis Simms was not deemed fit enough to feature against Preston on Saturday and Mowbray has revealed this morning that he’s unlikely to be back this week.
Dennis Cirkin is set to make the bench against Blackpool, however, while the Black Cats boss has hinted that PSG loanee Edouard Michut will likely get an opportunity in the first team soon.
Michael Appleton is hopeful that James Husband will be available after missing Saturday’s game against Norwich City.
The visitors already have a lengthy injury list, which includes Rhys Williams, Kevin Stewart, Lewis Fiorini, Keshi Anderson, and Jake Beesley.

Win Draw Loss
Blackpool’s recent form have been poor but they gave Norwich a real fight on Saturday and are not a side that should be underestimated.
Even so, their hefty injury list certainly pushes the balance further in Sunderland’s favour and the hosts could give the Stadium of Light faithful an enjoyable evening on Tuesday by claiming a 1-0 win.
Yes, Sunderland v Blackpool will be available on Sky Sports Football via the red button.
The game kicks off at 7:45pm on Tuesday evening, meaning full team news should be available from 6:45pm.
