Sunderland have endured a fairly quiet window in terms of ins and outs.

Jack Diamond has left the club on loan to join League One outfit Carlisle United, but not much else has happened apart from that.

This must be frustrating for Michael Beale who would have been keen to address his striker department and potentially add more experience to his team.

Beale has struggled during the early stages of his tenure at the Stadium of Light and that will make the lack of transfer activity especially frustrating, but it's not as if he has lost key players this month, so far.

That is something he can be pleased about, but he won't be able to relax until after the deadline passes, with some of his first-teamers likely to attract interest in the final hours of the transfer window.

Callum Styles update amid Barnsley exit links

Barnsley manager Neill Collins has revealed that Styles' situation hasn't changed very recently, which could indicate that a switch to Wearside isn't very close.

The Northern Echo have reported that the Black Cats were in advanced talks to secure the Hungary international's signature, but a move may not be imminent judging by Collins' comments.

He told BBC Radio Sheffield (via FLW): "No, no progress since the other night.

"Callum missed today because he's been unwell so obviously this week things will happen either way with loads of different clubs and loads of different players and we'll see where we are then.

"I think these things are never done until they are done. Things can look very inevitable and then quite quickly change.

"We'll just need to take the next few days, assess everything and see where we're at. Obviously by Thursday we'll know what we've got for the rest of the season."

Latest on Jack Clarke's Sunderland future

Calcio Mercato have reported that Jack Clarke has a €25m price tag at this point.

This is far more than the €16m that Lazio have reportedly offered, with his goalscoring contributions this season allowing him to attract interest from plenty of teams.

Unsurprisingly, the Italian side's bid has been turned down, with the English team in a very strong negotiating position.

The ex-Spurs winger's contract doesn't expire until 2026, so the Black Cats aren't under any real pressure to sell him at this stage unless the player tries to force a move.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that the club will pay around £2m to lure left-back Leo Hjelde away from Leeds United.

It was previously believed that the Black Cats were keen to bring him to the Stadium of Light on loan - but a permanent move has been agreed.

He is a much-needed addition, with the club struggling in the left-back department at the moment.

Aji Alese has been out of action, Dennis Cirkin is also suffering with injury issues and Niall Huggins looks set to spend the remainder of the campaign on the sidelines.

Hjelde could slot in on the left, or he may even be played in central defence if required, with the 20-year-old able to operate in both positions.

Birmingham City's stance emerges on Alex Pritchard

Birmingham City were previously happy to wait until the summer to sign attacking midfielder Alex Pritchard, according to Alan Nixon.

But following his transfer request, the Black Cats were believed to be keen to move him on.

And Blues have seemingly changed their stance, with the Midlands club closing in on a move for the 30-year-old according to Sports Illustrated.

A deal in the region of £100,000 looks set to be agreed and Pritchard looks almost certain to make the switch to St Andrew's, with a two-and-a-half year deal also agreed.

As part of his move, he is set to receive a sizeable pay rise.

Charles Sagoe in talks for Sunderland move

Football Transfers have reported that Beale's side have entered talks to sign Arsenal winger Charles Sagoe on loan.

Sagoe hasn't featured regularly for Mikel Arteta's side this term and with the Black Cats needing more firepower to compensate for a struggling striker department, the 19-year-old could be a vital player on Wearside.

Other teams are also thought to be keen on the Gunners' starlet, but Sunderland are "pressing ahead" in this race and will now be hoping that they can get a deal tied up before the deadline.

Amad Diallo hope as Man Utd's stance emerges

Manchester United are prepared to let Amad Diallo go out on loan for the remainder of the season, according to Football Insider.

That's a boost to the Black Cats who are keen to secure a deal for the Ivorian, who made a real difference on loan at the Stadium of Light last season.

Registering 14 goals and four assists in 42 competitive appearances for the Wearside outfit last term, he played a crucial part in guiding them to a top-six finish and could have a similar impact if he rejoins before the window closes tomorrow.

The Championship team would have to pay 50% of his wages though - and it remains to be seen whether that would be a barrier in getting a deal over the line.

Beale may not want to spend too much on a player who isn't a permanent addition, although he will surely be desperate to secure Diallo's signature.
