Sky Bet Championship pair Sunderland and Middlesbrough have both lodged loan bids with Manchester City as they aim to try and sign Marlos Moreno on a temporary basis, according to the Colombian branch of Marca.

Moreno has been at Manchester City for a long time, having joined them in 2016, but he is yet to make a senior appearance for the club, owing to the fact they have such riches in his position as a winger.

Indeed, he has since spent time away from City out on several loans in countries like Belgium and Portugal and with City looking far from likely to use him again this season, it appears another loan deal could be possible.

He may well get a shot at playing in England this season, too, with the north-east pair of Middlesbrough and Sunderland making loan offers, though Marca claims that the Black Cats’ proposition at least currently isn’t good enough.

The Verdict

It remains to be seen where Moreno ends up but one thing does seem clear and that is that he is far from part of the plans under Pep Guardiola.

He is now in his mid-2os and will surely want to be joining a club where he can start forging a proper career, rather than jumping all over the place.

For now, though, it looks as though another loan could well be the order of the day for him.
